Sasivekalu Ganesha
Sasivekalu Ganesha is a magnificent monolithic statue of Lord Ganesha located in Hampi, Karnataka, near the border with Andhra Pradesh. This 2.4 meters tall statue is carved out of a single boulder and is named after 'Sasivekalu' which means mustard seed in Kannada, referring to the legend that Ganesha ate so much that his stomach was about to burst, so he tied a snake around it to prevent it from exploding. The statue is a testament to the exquisite craftsmanship of the Vijayanagara Empire.
