Edakkal Caves
The Edakkal Caves are two natural caves located in the Wayanad district of Kerala, near the Karnataka border. These caves are famous for their ancient petroglyphs, which date back to the Neolithic era, around 6000 BCE. The caves are situated at a height of about 1,200 meters above sea level on Ambukuthi Hills. The name 'Edakkal' literally means 'a stone in between', referring to the cave's formation where a large boulder is wedged between two bigger rocks.
